Job Description
We are
currently hiring for a phlebotomist onsite at a busy clinic in Mishawaka. This
role will typically care for an adult population, which may include more
challenging blood draws. We seek an experienced individual who can immediately
support the team, performing approximately 50 draws per day.
Responsibilities
- Assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
- Experience in blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
- Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
- Explain the venipuncture blood drawing and other specimen collection processes clearly and courteously to patients.
- Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
- Fully understand all physicians' orders.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
- Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
- Package specimens for transport.
- Store specimen samples according to required temperature, place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label, and follow different procedures to maintain the integrity of the specimen.
- Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attend annual department trainings.
- Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience working as a phlebotomist (2 years preferred)
- 6 months of experience working within a hospital setting
- Ability to draw on difficult patients
- Any certification is advantageous
- Prior experience within Hematology or Oncology
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
- Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
Work Environment
The
position is onsite at Michiana Hematology Oncology PC, Mishawaka. The work
schedule is Monday to Friday, 1st shift (7 am to 5 pm).

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
