Job Description
The primary function of this role is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations as a phlebotomist. This is a float position requiring travel primarily within the Tacoma or Burien area, but also potentially from Burien to Gig Harbor. The individual will fill in at various PSC locations and IOP (in-office phlebotomist) locations within the CHI health system to cover openings, FMLA, or sick calls.

The primary function of this role is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations as a phlebotomist. This is a float position requiring travel primarily within the Tacoma or Burien area, but also potentially from Burien to Gig Harbor. Responsibilities
- Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate.
- Update patient information as required.
- Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
- Certainly and courteously explain the process of venipuncture, blood drawing, and other specimen collection.
- Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
- Understand all physicians' orders fully.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order.
- Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure correctness.
- Packaging specimens for transport.
- Store specimen samples according to required temperature.
