Job Title: Physical Substation Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Physical Substation Engineer to manage, design, and perform QA/QC checks related to various technical activities. This role involves developing and revising drawings, creating project criteria, and developing design specifications. This position offers the opportunity to support a growing consulting firm and work on projects for leading Investor Owned Utility companies. The role can be remote with occasional travel.

Responsibilities

• Manage, design, and perform QA/QC checks for technical activities.
• Develop and revise existing drawings for one-lines, physical arrangement, physical layout and sections, conduit, and grounding.
• Coordinate with CAD operators to develop organized quality CAD drawings.
• Develop physical design layouts and one-lines.
• Create physical equipment specifications.
• Develop project criteria and estimates utilizing project scopes.
• Create design specifications including the overall bill of materials.
• Assist in the development of foundation drawings and structural steel.
• Design and size conduit, cable, and backup generators.
• Order long-lead item materials.
• Review junior engineers’ designs to ensure they meet client standards and specifications.
• Identify gaps in client’s project scoping.

Essential Skills

• 5 years of experience in Physical Substation Engineering/Design.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience within Power Delivery.
• Experience with First Energy, AEP, Exelon utilities is a plus.
• QA/QC experience is a plus.

Work Environment

This role offers remote work with occasional travel to sites if needed. You will be part of a Substation team consisting of over 70 individuals, with plans to grow by more than 25% this year.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.07 - $57.69/hr.
