We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Project Engineer/Assistant Project Manager who is interested in highway, roadway, and site work construction projects. The Project Engineer will be responsible for site inspections, quality control, and ensuring that all project components adhere to specifications and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Oversight: Assist in managing all phases of highway, roadway, and site work construction projects, including planning, design, and execution.
- Site Inspections: Perform regular site inspections to monitor progress, identify issues, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Quality Control: Implement and oversee quality control procedures, ensuring the project meets all engineering specifications and industry standards.
- Coordination: Work closely with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution and timely delivery.
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, inspection records, and quality control logs.
- Problem Solving: Identify and address construction issues, proactively resolving conflicts and minimizing project delays.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards.
- Field Support: Assist in coordinating field activities and managing work crews, ensuring safe and efficient work practices.
- Documentation Management: Ensure that all RFIs (Requests for Information) and submittals are processed and tracked in a timely manner, in addition to maintaining accurate daily reports, inspection records, and quality control logs.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, an Associate’s degree or certification in an AEC program, or a tradesman background in a relevant field.
- Experience: 0-3 years of experience or interest in heavy civil projects, specifically highway, roadway, or site work construction.
- Skills:
- Familiarity with construction terminology and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret and apply engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Familiarity: Familiarity with the Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) and/or the County of Kauai regulations and procedures is highly preferred.
- Travel: Must be willing to travel to project sites as required.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $95000.00/yr.

Other forms of compensation: Truck, gas card and profit sharing is available for discussion as well.
