Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Surveyor (non-licensed) to join our team in Northern Indiana. This position will be based out of our Indy South office (Corporate Headquarters). As a Project Surveyor, you will perform a variety of surveying tasks, including topographic surveys, easement work, and structural measure downs. You will work closely with licensed surveyors and project managers to collect and analyze data, ensuring accurate and timely completion of surveying projects. We use Trimble equipment such as the total station, GPS unit, and R-12 data collector, and we process field data using Trimble Business Center (TBC) and Civil 3D. You will spend 90% of your time in the field and 10% in the office.
Responsibilities
- Assist and perform topo surveys to gather elevation and boundary data for development projects.
- Assist with easement work including identifying and documenting property boundaries and rights-of-way.
- Perform structural measure downs and provide detailed measurements and documentation for various structures (manholes, inlets, etc.).
- Prepare field notes, data, and photos for review by licensed surveyors and project teams.
- Collaborate with engineers and other professionals to support project requirements.
- Assist in supporting other offices with surveys.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 3 years of field experience operating and performing surveys independently.
- Experience and ability to process survey field data, including importing CSV files into Civil 3D and ensuring accurate and labeled drawings.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to travel to project sites and stay overnight if needed.
- Experience using Trimble Business Center (TBC), AutoCAD, and/or Civil 3D.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience processing survey data into Civil 3D and creating surfaces in Civil 3D is a significant advantage.
Work Environment
This position operates Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, with some weeks potentially being Monday through Thursday (4 days, 10 hours). Typically, you will work 40-45 hours per week. As an Actalent consultant, overtime (over 40 hours per week) is paid at 1.5 times the regular rate. Once permanent, the position is salary-based with overtime paid as straight time. Additional benefits for permanent employees include bonuses, profit sharing, and a company vehicle. The survey team consists of 3 people, all based in Indianapolis, working on utility (water/wastewater) projects with no heavy transportation work or construction staking. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
