Job Title: Quality Assurance Specialist
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Quality Assurance Specialist to serve as the SQF Site Practitioner. This role is responsible for ensuring the SQF program is functioning optimally while making continuous improvements. The role also includes writing, verifying, validating, and approving Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Responsibilities
- Ensure the SQF program is functioning and continuously improve it.
- Write, verify, validate, and approve SOPs.
- Conduct internal, cGMP, and HACCP audits.
- Coordinate customer, third-party, regulatory (FDA), and compliance audits with support from the Quality Assurance Manager.
- Collaborate with manufacturing departments to improve current programs and implement new programs.
- Promote Food Safety Culture within the facility.
- Serve as PCQI/SME in Food Safety, Quality, and compliance-related areas.
- Manage new item set-up and changes relating to Food Safety and Quality.
- Ensure success and compliance of new items, changes to the process, and label approval.
- Coordinate key Food Safety and Quality programs managed by the Quality department.
- Oversee environmental monitoring program, pest control, SPC, RCA, Quality Near Miss, Qnotes/Q1 inventory, etc.
- Assist in tracking key performance indicators within the Quality Group and for the facility.
- Share knowledge and assist in the learning and development of the department.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, incorporating safety and health in all tasks and responsibilities.
- Report any and all food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action and assist with corrective actions.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager.
- Assume the duties of the Quality Assurance Manager in their absence.
Qualifications
Must Haves:
- Bachelor of Science or Associates Degree in Microbiology, Food Science or related field is preferred.
- 5 years in food plant as quality professional is preferred, 2 years is required
- Knowledge of FDA regulations
- Experience with batch record review

- Strong internal and external auditing skills
- Ability to coordinate and collaborate effectively
- Proficiency in managing Food Safety and Quality programs
- Experience in fostering a team environment and promoting learning
- Effective communication skills
Work Environment
This position operates in a food manufacturing environment with lab and office settings.
There are two shifts available:
2nd shift (3pm-11pm)
3rd shift (11pm-7am)
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $75000.00/yr.
