Job Title: Quality Control Technician
Job Description
Oversee daily operations of the assigned QC lab for the assigned shift. Review all products approved in the assigned QC lab and take appropriate steps to ensure the final quality of the products. Perform all quality control tests and make adjustments to in-process goods for color, viscosity, particle size, etc. Authorized to Tag and Release products in multiple QC labs. Work with QA personnel to identify and correct problems across the product lines. Perform quality control tests on selected incoming raw materials. Work with R&D and Manufacturing personnel to minimize the generation of sub-standard products. Recommend disposition of sub-standard and obsolete inventory. Train personnel in the operations of quality control. Operate various QC equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform viscosity, melt point, weight per gallon, let downs, color spectrometer, paint lab, and make color adjustments based on evaluations.
- Use visual techniques to adjust color.
- Service wet dispersions and wet dispersions conventional color dispersions, including orange, yellow, blue, and green.
- Evaluate fluorescent pigments that come out of the adjacent plant.
- Adhere to laboratory safety and housekeeping standards.
- Assist in establishing new or improved quality control procedures.
- Maintain inventory of QC supplies and prepare standard vehicles for in-process tests.
- Submit orders to the supervisor as needed to maintain an adequate inventory of QC supplies.
- Maintain quality control standards, retainers, and records.
- Ensure effective communication for shift transitions.
- Assist with assigned Technical Service Requests from R&D/QA.
- Perform testing and analysis stemming from product quality complaints.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum high school graduate with emphasis in chemistry and math
- Various college degrees with emphasis in chemistry are desirable but not necessary if experience supports the same type of knowledge
- Ability to discern color differences and color matching
- Maintains visual precision by getting periodic professional visual exams

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $47840.00 - $52000.00/yr.
