What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Laboratory Technician position at Actalent?
We are seeking a QC Technician in Charlotte!
The quality control technician will conduct these ongoing tests according to established procedures:
- Solids
- Viscosity
- pH
- Grit
- Particle size
- Film tests
- Froth
- Density
- Gas Chromatography
- Styrene-butadiene ratio checks
- Surface tension
- Biological tests
- Product Blends
- Manual COA generation when necessary
- On-site truck dispatch
- Distribution of logistic paperwork for deliveries (incoming and outgoing)
- Participate in regular training assessments per the QC Lab Supervisor.
- Others as requested or required
Other duties:
- Input data and maintain accurate records of tests on worksheets and computer database
- Perform weekly calibration checks on lab instruments and records data
- Perform clerical tasks as required to release shipments to customers, to communicate OOS data, and to perform/complete all necessary checklists for product blends and other miscellaneous tests.
- Retain samples in an organized manner.
- Pull and test retains for customer complaints.
- Interpret test results and communicate results as soon as possible.
- Serve as primary contact with drivers picking up or dropping trailers, including creation and distribution of required paperwork
- Responsible for leading the shift
- Accountable to training Quality Control Technicians
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Ideally some industry experience within the laboratory - highly prefer within a chemical or polymer lab.
- Effective communication skills (written and oral); customer-oriented (internal and external)
- Proficiency in basic math (including rounding and percentages)
- Prefer a 2yr/4yr Chemistry degree
- Prefer ASQ Certification
- Work independently and in a team, including training and mentoring
- Multi-task with flexibility
- Successfully prioritize when faced with requests, demands, and deadlines
- Interpret and communicate test results
- Demonstrate an ability to identify, analyze and solve problems
- Utilize various software to include Microsoft Office, JDE, and Bizzmine effectively and with ease
- Work Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 2/2/3 Schedule

The pay range for this position is $22.70 - $25.00/hr.
