Job Title: Quality Control Laboratory Technician

Job Description

The Quality Control Laboratory Technician will test raw materials and finished powder coating samples per specifications. The role includes making pass/fail determinations based on listed specifications and product knowledge, adjusting out-of-spec material, and assisting operators with product and quality issues on a daily basis. The technician will hold operators accountable as needed, perform lab tests directed by the QC Manager/Supervisor, and document all findings and reports for product run logs, certificates of analysis, and re-certification records.

Responsibilities

• Test raw materials and finished powder coating samples according to specifications.
• Make pass/fail determinations based on specifications and product knowledge.
• Adjust out-of-spec material as necessary.
• Assist operators with product and quality issues daily.
• Hold operators accountable when necessary.
• Perform lab tests as directed by the QC Manager/Supervisor.
• Document findings and create reports for product run logs, certificates of analysis, and re-certification records.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in chemistry.
• Experience with lab testing.
• Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
• Experience with wet chemistry, paint manufacturing, ink chemistry, color matching, and polymer chemistry.
• Familiarity with laboratory equipment and lab analysis.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Degree in Chemistry or related field.
• Experience in a quality control lab environment.

Work Environment

This position is a lab role involving quality control of powder paint products. The technician will work within the quality lab for the majority of the day. The schedule is Sunday through Thursday, 3rd shift, from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Training may occur on 1st shift for a week or two depending on experience. The role requires interaction with other quality personnel, occasional customer interactions, and collaboration with internal R&D, sales, and production personnel. The dress code is business casual. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00
