Job Description
Responsible for the qualification and release testing of all immunologic reagents (antigens and antisera) produced at the laboratory. Test and characterize reference standards for antigens and antisera. Maintain stocks of reference standards and re-qualify standards as needed. Qualify each new lot of antigen or antiserum to verify that it meets the standard requirements. Validate the tests used in the SPF flock-monitoring program. Generate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and related documents associated with these tasks. Assist in projects related to maintenance and improvement of quality control in the laboratory at the request of the management.
Responsibilities
- Qualification and release testing of all immunologic reagents produced at the laboratory.
- Test and characterize reference standards for antigens and antisera.
- Maintain stocks of reference standards and re-qualify standards as needed.
- Qualify each new lot of antigen or antiserum to verify that it meets standard requirements.
- Validate the tests used in the SPF flock-monitoring program.
- Generate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and related documents.
- Assist in projects related to maintenance and improvement of quality control in the laboratory.
Essential Skills
- Experience with at least one of the following tests: AGP, IFA, PCR, AJHI, MFIA, tissue culture, or cell culture.
- Laboratory skills, including pipetting, sterile technique, and assay testing.
- Proficiency in PCR and ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay).
- Knowledge in quality control, chemistry, biology, microbiology, and quality assurance.
- Experience with sample preparation, sample analysis, media preparation, and reagent preparation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Education:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in biological science or related discipline.
Experience: 1 year of related experience and/or training.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to chemicals and fumes. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. The employee is regularly required to talk, hear, sit, stand, and use fingers and hands. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
