Job Title: Quality Engineer
Job Description
The Quality Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality systems to ensure product compliance with industry standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines. This role requires a strong foundation in quality engineering, problem-solving, and continuous improvement initiatives within an electronics manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality control processes to ensure compliance with ISO and IPC-A-610 standards.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action processes for product and process issues using tools like 8D, 5-Why, and FMEA.
- Work closely with design, manufacturing, and test engineering teams to ensure quality is integrated into product development and production processes.
- Develop and implement statistical process control (SPC) techniques and other data-driven methodologies to monitor and improve manufacturing quality.
- Provide leadership and training on quality-related topics, including Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) processes by defining quality requirements and validating product performance.
- Manage customer complaints and ensure timely resolution through structured problem-solving methods.
- Maintain and improve Quality Management System (QMS) documentation and procedures.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or 10 years' experience in a Quality Engineering role within an electronics manufacturing environment.
- 5 years' experience in quality engineering within the electronics manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of IPC standards.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis tools (Minitab, JMP, etc.).
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma.
- Experience creating quality documentation - APQP, PPAP, DFMEA/PFMEA.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with automated inspection systems.
- Experience with PCBA manufacturing or electronics assembly processes.
- Green/Black Belt certifications.
Work Environment
The candidate will report to the Director of Quality and work on a team with four other quality engineers. The company has a very strong team with many veteran employees, providing a wealth of knowledge to learn from. The company is rapidly growing and currently has 175 employees. The manufacturing processes include assembly, coating assemblies, housing assemblies, and soldering assemblies, with a significant portion being automated. The candidate will work a standard 40-hour work week with minimal overtime as needed. The company prides itself on meeting stringent regulatory demands of the medical device, military, and defense industries. The company offers 10 days PTO, 6 standard holidays, and access to industry-specific training and development programs through Safari University. After 6 months of employment, employees will also have access to Udemy.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.66 - $40.86/hr.
