Job Title: Radiation Therapist

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Radiation Therapist to deliver accurate radiation therapy treatments utilizing a linear accelerator and assist in patient simulation. You will be responsible for accurately setting treatment parameters, recording proper documentation of all treatments and procedures, performing daily QA and warm-up procedures, scheduling daily treatments and other appointments, and monitoring patient well-being throughout treatment. You will also provide patient education when needed, observe patients for evidence of complications, and report to physicians as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Deliver accurate radiation therapy treatments using a linear accelerator.
• Assist in patient simulation.
• Accurately set treatment parameters.
• Record proper documentation of all treatments and procedures.
• Perform daily QA and warm-up procedures.
• Schedule daily treatments and other appointments.
• Monitor patient well-being throughout treatment and provide patient education as needed.
• Observe patients for evidence of complications and report to physicians as appropriate.
• Coordinate patients’ daily radiation therapy appointments and CT Scans.
• Handle daily and weekly filming for treatment purposes and verification.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Participate in professional development and continuing education.

Essential Skills

• Experience in radiation therapy.
• Knowledge in oncology and urology.
• Experience in cancer treatment.
• Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• ARRT Registered.
• IEMA Licensed in IL.
• Active ACLS and BLS certification in IL.
• Ability to perform each essential duty adequately.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) is preferred.
• Bilingual in Polish or Russian is preferred.

Work Environment

This role is based in a stand-alone clinic with no HDR and no inpatients. The clinic operates Monday through Friday with no weekends, no travel, and no on-call duties. Shifts are typically 7am-4pm but can offer some flexibility if needed. The clinic environment is positive and team-oriented, with six other full-time radiation therapists on staff. The primary focus is on treating prostate cancer patients, including High Dose Rate (HDR) brachytherapy and Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT). A signing bonus is offered for full-time employees. The ideal candidate is a team player who prioritizes patient care.
