Job Title: Refinery Operator
Job Description
Support the team's units by operating pilot plant scale equipment. Assemble and modify equipment according to plans and direction from the team. Maintain working areas of the pilot plant, process raw rock materials for experiments, handle strong acids and bases as needed, validate and troubleshoot operational parameters from test plans, assist with preventative maintenance tasks, record and manage measurements during experiments in premade Excel templates, and collaborate with teammates synergistically.
Responsibilities

- Assemble and modify equipment as directed.
- Maintain working areas of the pilot plant.
- Process raw rock materials for experiments.
- Handle strong acids and bases according to the test plan.
- Validate and troubleshoot operational parameters from test plans.
- Assist with preventative maintenance tasks.
- Record and manage measurements during experiments in premade Excel templates.
- Collaborate and work with teammates synergistically.
Essential Skills
- Chemical handling and troubleshooting skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in a sciences field, within Chemistry preferred.
- 2 years of experience working in a plant or startup operating environment.
- Ability to operate process equipment such as pumps, mixers, heaters, and filters after receiving job-specific training.
- Ability to operate mechanical equipment such as crushing and pressing tools after receiving job-specific training.
- Comfortable with basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds of materials without assistance.
- Strong commitment to work safety.
- Experience working in a machine shop or laboratory environment.
- Attention to detail and safety awareness.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, Slack, and Google products.

Work Environment
This position is onsite in West Oakland. The two shifts available are Night (8pm to 8am) from Thursday to Sunday and Friday to Monday. The role involves handling strong acids and bases, and the ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds of materials without assistance is required. A strong commitment to work safety and attention to detail are essential.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
