Safety Coordinator - Chester, VA

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Safety Coordinator to join our team and contribute to the closure of a 70 acre ash pond for a large utility company. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing safety inspections, audits, and reports on-site. They will be provided with a laptop and an onsite vehicle to travel throughout the facility and will report directly to the director of safety. This is a long-term project that was initially slated for 10 years, and this team has been onsite for multiple years in a row now. After this project, they will continue to bid and win projects across the country. This is a long-term opportunity for local and non-local candidates.

Responsibilities

• Conduct craft labor safety inspections
• Provide site training to ensure compliance with safety standards
• Generate daily reports on safety audits and walk downs
• Update OSHA 300 logs with recordable incidents
• Ensure safe construction practices are being followed at all times

Essential Skills

• 5 years of Heavy Industrial Construction Safety Consulting/Management experience
• Active OSHA 500 or CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) Certification
• Preferred - Previous experience on utility ash pond closure projects
• Preferred - Additional relevant Construction Safety experience

Work Environment

This position is based in Chester, VA, at a power plant for an ash pond closure project. The work environment is fast-paced and requires adherence to strict safety protocols, including the use of hard hats, boots, glasses, gloves, and protective gear/vests. The work schedule will initially be 5 to 6 days per week with 10-hour shifts, with potential ramp-up as needed. Target pay is $40-48/hour with $130/day Per Diem for all 7 days. Pay and Per Diem is compensated weekly, starting after the first full week of work.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $48.00/hr.
