Job Title: Scientist I

Job Description

The Scientist I will perform laboratory analysis on specimens using established laboratory procedures. This position involves processing specimens, performing moderate and highly complex analytical testing, and documenting all work performed under the direction of the Laboratory Medical Director. The Scientist I will work under Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) standards.

Responsibilities

• Handle Cologuard test kits containing patient samples.
• Run laboratory tests including PCR, Gel Electrophoresis, ELISA, and DNA Extraction.
• Process specimens and perform analytical testing.
• Document all work performed accurately.
• Establish, perform, and document quality assurance and quality control.
• Maintain laboratory equipment.
• Work under GLP standards.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in laboratory techniques such as PCR, Gel Electrophoresis, ELISA, and DNA Extraction.
• Strong experience in biology, chemistry, microbiology, biochemistry, and molecular biology.
• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, or a similar life sciences degree.
• A minimum of 6 Chemistry credits, 6 Biology credits, and a combined total of 24 credits in Chemistry and Biology.
• Ability to document work accurately and maintain quality control standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Team-oriented and motivated individuals.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and work efficiently.
• Willingness to work weekend shifts.

Work Environment

The work environment is a clean lab setting with a strong focus on teamwork. The team is expanding by adding 35 people to the weekend shift on a temporary basis. The available shifts are Saturday to Monday, 6pm to 6:30am. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $52000.00/yr.

Benefits (when hired on):
Start on Day 1, no cost out of paycheck
$5000 deductible

Vacation/PTO (when hired on):
Start out with 4 weeks of vacation: accrued time, ability to go a little negative at the beginning if vacations are scheduled early on in tenure
6 holidays and 6 personal holidays
Rotation – would have to work some holidays, rare would know ahead of time
