Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Chemist responsible for the overall administration of our QC laboratory. This role includes training lab personnel, monitoring QA/QC programs, maintaining laboratory records, scheduling and prioritizing sample testing duties, and generating reports.

Responsibilities

• Train and oversee all lab personnel.
• Monitor QA/QC programs in effect.
• Maintain laboratory records.
• Schedule and prioritize sample testing duties.
• Generate reports.
• Review and approve LSR's and B# reports, as well as other lab documents.
• Provide technical support to lab personnel and assign duties.
• Communicate with sales, operations, QC, and other departments.
• Originate and implement lab SOP's and analytical methods.
• Direct R&D activity.
• Perform QA/QC on all samples for incoming waste.
• Log all results into computer databases.
• Maintain all lab equipment.
• Operate the lab in a safe and efficient manner.
• Maintain inventory control.
• Continually grow knowledge of laboratory information and expertise.
• Properly log and perform all checks, standards, and calibrations.
• Occasional overtime and weekend work.
• Use of company-provided personal protective equipment is required.
• Perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Environmental Science.
• At least 2-3 years of lab experience with instruments like ICP-OES, LC/MS, GC, or ideally LC/TQ.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with LC/TQ (Triple Quad).
• Experience supervising or leading others in the laboratory.

Work Environment

You will be responsible for two laboratories and have your own office between them. The 'metals' lab contains the ICP-OES and a newer lab houses the LC/TQ. The role includes access to a wide array of other instruments and tools to facilitate your work. The team is friendly and flexible, and you will have autonomy to run the lab as you see fit, provided necessary regulations are followed. Occasional overtime and weekend work are required, and the use of company-provided personal protective equipment is mandatory.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $31.25/hr.
