Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer with over 8 years of experience to support our national practice, with a focus on the Maryland, Virginia, and District of Columbia market area. As the Regional Team Leader, you will be responsible for growing the geotechnical business, administering QA practices, managing technically complex projects, and performing review of design documents and calculations. The ideal candidate should possess detailed knowledge and practice of geotechnical theory associated with foundations, slope stability, ground improvement measures, and more, particularly on major infrastructure, transportation, commercial, state, federal, and industrial projects. You will participate in multidisciplinary project teams, often involving multiple client offices. Your demonstrated success in business development, ability to lead a high-performing team, and commitment to exceptional client service and technical excellence, while balancing project risks and business needs, make you the perfect fit for our team.
Responsibilities
- Grow the geotechnical business in the designated market area.
- Administer QA practices and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Manage technically complex projects and oversee design document reviews and calculations.
- Participate in multidisciplinary project teams.
- Lead and develop high-performing teams.
- Demonstrate exceptional client service and technical excellence.
- Balance project risks with business needs.
Essential Skills
- 8 years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience.
- BS Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (Masters preferred).
- Licensed Professional Engineer with the ability to obtain reciprocity.
- Professional Engineering license in Maryland or another US State.
- Proficiency with gINT software and standard geotechnical engineering analysis software such as LPILE, APILE, SHAFT, OpenGround, Plaxis, GeoStudio, and FoSSA.
- Experience providing geotechnical engineering services for agencies such as DDOT, VDOT, MDOT, PennDOT, WMATA, CSX, Amtrak, Norfolk Southern, or similar.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Demonstrated success in business development.
- Experience managing or supervising junior engineers.
- Strong track record of business development.
- Ability to lead and manage varying teams depending on the project.
Work Environment
This role requires physical presence to support and manage the growth of the teams. You will be responsible for leading entry-level and mid-level Geotechnical Engineers. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $77.00 - $96.15/hr.
