Job Title: Sensory Panelist

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Sensory Panelist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a background in food science, with experience in laboratory testing and sensory analysis. This role involves administering sensory and consumer tests, managing products under test, and contributing to data analysis and reporting. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing sensory panels, training panelists, and ensuring all testing requirements are met.

Responsibilities

• Administer sensory and consumer tests following the Sensory Specialist's/Scientist's and Senior Technician's instructions and best practices.
• Build sessions in sensory software, prepare and code samples, and provide samples to panelists.
• Manage products under test, including procurement, storage, and disposal.
• Check panel data and build results reports.
• Schedule, plan, and execute informal tastings, including product preparation, ballot development, and reporting.
• Participate in informal tastings to provide guidance as needed.
• Oversee all acuity testing requirements for discrimination panel recruitment, including onboarding, general lab orientation, lab set-up, and maintaining records of monthly attendance and performance.
• Assist in training and managing sensory panels.
• Screen, train, and monitor the performance of internal and external panels.
• Maintain records of external panel attendance and performance, and administer panel information.
• Use appropriate sensory software for data acquisition and analysis.
• Summarize and report sensory results.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Sciences (Food Science preferred).
• Experience in laboratory testing and sensory testing.
• Core knowledge of the 10 Principles and expert knowledge in sensory evaluation methodologies.
• Proficiency in safety, Good Manufacturing Practices, and Good Laboratory Practices.
• Focus on product quality and safety.
• Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Computer literacy (MS-Office and dedicated sensory software).
• Basic level of English (written and oral).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in sensory laboratory management is a plus.
• Technical training in a scientific or food-related field is a plus.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
