Job Title: Software Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, developing new applications, and sustaining existing ones. You will work with technologies such as Ubuntu 22.04 for both desktop and server development and deployment, Git for source code management, and Jira for issue tracking. Your role will involve all stages of the software engineering lifecycle, including requirements gathering, analysis, design, documentation, programming, debugging, and unit testing.
Responsibilities
- Program using IntelliJ
- Develop new applications and sustain existing ones
- Use Ubuntu 22.04 for both desktop and server development and deployment
- Manage source code using Git
- Track issues using Jira
- Communicate effectively through written mediums such as Jira, Confluence, documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and email
- Participate in all stages of the software engineering lifecycle
- Estimate scope and effort for tasks
- Develop software within a larger integrated system and in a team setting
- Apply troubleshooting techniques and overcome challenges
- Periodically travel for integration sessions at other sites and support build, test, or customer events
- Continually grow and maintain an understanding of the system and equipment being controlled
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in Java
- Experience with embedded systems
- Proficiency with Linux Ubuntu
- Strong software engineering experience
- Experience with Git
- Experience with integration and testing
- Knowledge of Android
- Experience with Jira
- Proficiency in automation testing
- Experience with Bash scripting
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience in software development
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Expert problem-solving skills
- Expertise in multi-threaded programming and debugging
- Experience with network configuration and tools (e.g., ssh, scp)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to develop detailed plans, accurately estimate effort, and track progress
- Ability to track issues/changes with or without an issue tracking system and generate a change log
- Ability to make tradeoffs between ideal solutions and project constraints
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency with unit testing
- Proficiency with network configuration and tools (e.g., ssh, scp)
- Proficiency at integrating and working with network and serial devices
- Proficiency with Ubuntu 22.04 (or newer) OS including OS and package configuration, development, debugging, and deployment tasks from a remote console (e.g., ssh)
- Proficiency with Bash scripting
- Proficiency with Android and Windows OS
- Experience creating Mil-STD documentation
- Ability to read schematics and mechanical drawings
- Understanding of software security practices
Work Environment
The role is based in a small engineering/R&D environment in Stillwater, OK. Candidates are expected to work onsite to support integration and testing activities as the hardware is located onsite. There may be some flexibility to work from home if the work permits, but candidates should reside close to the Stillwater, OK area.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $65.00/hr.
