Job Title: Solid Waste Project Manager
Job Description
We are seeking a Project Manager to join our Virginia Beach, VA office and perform solid waste projects. As a team player with a desire for professional development, you will prepare engineering calculations, drawings, reports, and permit applications, and serve as the Engineer of Record on projects for public and private clients primarily in the Mid-Atlantic market.
Responsibilities
- Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, reports, and permit applications.
- Serve as the Engineer of Record on projects.
- Design engineering solutions and coordinate with clients and staff.
- Manage solid waste management projects, including landfill gas, landfills, landfill infrastructure, and composting.
- Provide design, engineering, permitting, construction, and operations support.
- Apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering and scientific principles in solid waste assignment areas.
- Work independently on engineering or scientific problems and methods.
- Plan and coordinate work, representing the company at meetings and conferences.
- Perform field work including surveys, data gathering, CQA liner installations, and inspections.
- Conduct office-based tasks such as CAD drafting, mathematical calculations, report writing, creating site plans and facility diagrams, and permit applications.
- Participate in business development, including proposal preparation, meeting with clients, and attending industry-related conferences and trade shows.
- Receive technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans or projects.
Essential Skills
- Virginia P.E. registration (preferably civil) or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Geotechnical Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the solid waste industry, including landfill gas management, air compliance, and landfill design and permitting.
- Competence in using MS Office and other computer software used in environmental consulting.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in business development and consulting within the solid waste industry.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and client interaction skills.
Work Environment
This is an in-office position with normal business hours. You will work in a team environment with a total of 7 employees in the Virginia Beach office, alongside the Project Director. The role involves collaborating with the Richmond and Northern Virginia offices and working on landfill projects in Virginia Beach for a major client, the Regional Solid Waste Management Authority (SPSA).
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $84.03 - $115.00/hr.
