Job Title: Structural Design Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a talented and experienced Structural Design Engineer with a strong experience in mechanical design, particularly in the design of doors, including hinge and latch mechanisms. This position involves guiding junior engineers, defining structural architecture, and supporting design through trade studies and concept development.

Responsibilities

• Design complex kinematic solutions in a conceptual design environment.
• Guide junior engineers in structural design.
• Define structural architecture by identifying and proposing advanced technology.
• Support design through trade studies, concept development, and interface development.
• Design primary and secondary composite structures.
• Form high-temperature materials.
• Utilize CATIA for part design, assembly design, surface-wireframe, and composites workbench.

Essential Skills

• Extensive experience in space vehicle design.
• Proficiency in CATIA part design, assembly design, surface-wireframe, and composites workbench.
• Experience in designing with high-temperature materials.
• Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) experience.
• Experience in creating, managing, and running Global Finite Element Models (GFEMs).
• Experience in creating and executing Detail Finite Element Models (DFEMs).
• Ability to create simple working Finite Element Models (FEMs) for conceptual design validation.
• Knowledge of various material forms and processes for conceptual design trade studies.
• Experience executing trade studies to determine the best design solutions considering weight, cost, and schedule constraints.
• Ability to work in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment with design, fabrication, assembly, and other key functions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in Wing Design, Fuselage Design, Vertical Tail Design, Air Vehicle Door Design, and Stringer/Frames/Clips design.
• Experience with NX/Fibersim CAD systems.
• Experience in designing coupons and structures for testing in NX specifically Fibersim.
• Experience with composite workbench.

Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. This position requires onsite work in a cleared facility.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $95.00/hr.
