Overview
We are seeking a talented Structural Designers and Engineers to support projects for the Department of Energy. The ideal candidate will possess a strong base in design and engineering principles, with a passion for creating functional and aesthetically pleasing structures. This role requires proficiency in various design software and the ability to collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, and clients to bring concepts to life.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct construction document reviews as required.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate structural engineering and multi-disciplined team/design projects while engaged in the planning, design and construction phases of engineering projects.
- Prepare and review calculations, drawings, and specifications relating to seismic and wind analyses, foundation design, structural framing analyses and design, and bracing analyses and design.
- Experience in renovating/modifying existing facilities is required.
- Familiarity with computer aided drafting applications is required.
- Smart Plant 3D or Microstation
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in design, estimating, specification preparation, construction document preparation, related phases of engineering, and field experience in the inspection of construction projects.
- 7 years of experience in a relevant environment performing structural design will be considered in lieu of education.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $155000.00/yr.
There is travel pay at an hourly rate from when the plane doors close to when they open, up to 8 hours on travel days. There is a per diem for food and lodging through GSA (Government per diem): $68/day for food (true per diem—you get it whether you use it or not) and $110/day for lodging. For example, they need to stay in a hotel to get this per diem, NOT an Airbnb, etc. If the hotel costs $120/day, they pay the $10 difference. This is all on top of their base hourly rate.
Plane tickets, car rental, hotel, and Uber/taxi will be reimbursed the following month, typically within the first week.
