What are the responsibilities and job description for the Structural Engineer position at Actalent?
We are seeking a Structural Engineer with experience in the practice of engineering within an industrial or chemical plant environment. The ideal candidate will evaluate existing structures, design modifications to existing facilities, support piping, and assist in lifting and rigging industrial equipment. This role involves analyzing existing structures to determine if they can accommodate unforeseen loads and designing rigging plans for equipment. You will work as part of a project team and collaborate closely with the drafting and design team.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate existing structures and design necessary modifications.
- Support piping systems and rigging of industrial equipment.
- Analyze portions of existing structures to determine load capacity.
- Design rigging plans for new equipment.
- Optimize boiler design, including equipment and piping supports.
- Collaborate with the project team and hand off plans to the drafting and design team.
Essential Skills
- 5 years of experience in the design of steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry structures.
- Proficiency in Seismic design using Equivalent Lateral Force procedures in IBC and ASCE 7.
- Knowledge of structural engineering, structural design, and structural steel.
- Proficient in software including MathCAD, STAAD Pro, and AutoCAD.
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access & PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Familiar with design codes such as AISC (ASD, LRFD) and ACI.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Capable of obtaining a DOE security clearance.
- Experience with documentation control and seismic analysis.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr.
