Substation Project Manager – Start and grow your career with Actalent! We are looking to hire a full-time Substation Project Manager. We are hiring for multiple roles, ranging from entry-level to experienced.
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Substation Project Manager to oversee multiple large and complex engineering substation projects up to 500kV from early concept development through detailed design and construction. The role involves coordinating design and construction activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices, supervising procurement of equipment and materials, and mentoring project teams. The successful candidate will perform technical problem-solving, lead multi-discipline teams, and ensure project quality standards are met.
Responsibilities:
- Manage multiple large substation projects up to 500kV concurrently.
- Coordinate design and construction activities for new and upgraded substations.
- Supervise and procure equipment, materials, and services for substation projects.
- Serve as a mentor and leader for project teams.
- Perform technical problem-solving and provide guidance at the project level.
- Lead proposal teams and develop project approaches that lead to successful project wins.
- Work effectively with lead practitioners, quality managers, and key technical specialists.
- Prepare and monitor project budgets and schedules.
- Assist in the negotiation of contracts and the expansion of service offerings with existing clients.
- Hold progress meetings weekly or bi-weekly.
- Provide overall direction for financial and budget management.
- Manage a portfolio of projects ranging from $50K to $4 million, with potential to manage up to $10 million.
- Ensure adherence to schedules and discipline standards.
Essential Skills:
- 10 years of experience in Substation Project Management.
- Experience in project management, construction, electrical, and right of way.
- PMP or PE certification.
- Strong financial reporting and budget management skills.
- Experience in the utility industry.
