Job Title: SUE Technician

Job Description

This position is responsible for assisting the SUE Analyst in the operation of a SUE field crew. The major objectives are to ensure the quality of work, including accuracy, thoroughness, clarity, and compliance with regulatory requirements, as well as managing public relations. The role also involves maintaining a safe work environment, protecting and maintaining equipment and vehicles, and accurately collecting field data and locating features. Some overnight travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the SUE Analyst in the operation of a SUE field crew.
• Ensure the accuracy, thoroughness, and clarity of work while meeting regulatory requirements.
• Maintain a safe work environment and protect and maintain equipment and vehicles.
• Accurately and efficiently collect field data and locate features.
• Operate equipment used in SUE field operations.
• Perform basic survey operations alongside SUE tasks.

Essential Skills

• Experience with utility locating and instrument operation.
• Proficiency with survey equipment such as total stations and GPS.
• Experience with SUE locating equipment or hydrographic equipment.
• Knowledge of electromagnetic, vacuum excavation, and ground penetrating radar.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with USIC is acceptable if the candidate has a few years of experience with another organization or has spent less than 2 years with USIC.
• Experience in SUE field operations.

Work Environment

This role requires extensive walking outside year-round through various terrains and in extreme weather conditions, including heat and cold. The position is 100% field-based, involving travel to job sites across the Carolinas, Virginia, Georgia, and other locations. Dress code includes attire suitable for outdoor work.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $12.00 - $20.00/hr.
