Job Title: Lead Superintendent
Job Description
A leading civil/structural architectural contracting and engineering firm is seeking a Lead Superintendent to oversee site activities in Carmel, NY. The role involves ensuring that heavy civil construction projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This position requires strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to effectively manage field labor and subcontractors.
Responsibilities
- Manage all site activities and supervise the duties of field labor and subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with all corporate policies and procedures.
- Oversee project safety procedures and conduct site safety and foreman meetings.
- Maintain quality control to company standards.
- Coordinate, track, and log all site activities using company management systems.
- Oversee project documents (RFIs, Daily Logs, Submittals, etc.) with the project team.
- Assist with permits and meet with city inspectors and consultants.
- Review and assist in writing subcontract scopes.
- Conduct site project meetings and ensure all activities are conducted safely.
- Understand and manage project costs, ensuring budget adherence and cost efficiency.
- Supervise heavy civil construction activities including drainage systems, paving, culverts, sidewalks, curbs, bridges, roadways, and water/wastewater systems.
- Manage site works projects such as surveying, clearing, excavation, grading, drainage, erosion control, utility installation, foundation preparation, and concrete/paving.
Essential Skills
- 7-10 years of construction experience as a Superintendent, preferably on heavy civil projects.
- Strong understanding of cost management and budget adherence.
- Experience with heavy civil duties such as drainage, paving, culverts, sidewalks, curbs, bridges, roadways, and water/wastewater systems.
- Experience with site works projects including surveying, clearing, excavation, grading, drainage, erosion control, utility installation, foundation preparation, and concrete/paving.
- OSHA 30 qualification preferred; HAZWOPER certification is a plus.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to understand architectural plans and specifications.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Bluebeam, Procore, P6, and MS Office.
- Knowledge of Westchester County DPW, DEP, DDC, and other government agencies.
- ConED experience would be beneficial.
- Concrete and masonry experience.
- Project coordination skills.
- Understanding of substation construction.
- Experience throughout Westchester and the 5 boroughs.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $180000.00/hr.
