Job Title: Survey Crew Member

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual to join our survey crew. This entry-level position offers the opportunity to work on a significant highway design project. The successful candidate will report to and work with the Chief of Surveys, starting as an instrument person with potential for career growth into a rod person. This role requires working outdoors in various weather conditions and provides a stable work environment with opportunities for skill development.

Responsibilities

• Daily coordination with field coordinator, project managers, and other office staff.
• Work in a safe manner and obey all safety regulations.
• Supervise all members of the survey crew.
• Work independently as a one-person crew as required.
• Daily uploading and downloading of data collectors.
• Daily care and charging of survey instrumentation.
• Continually advance knowledge with upgrades in technology and equipment.
• Assist party chief in carrying survey equipment and supplies to the job site.
• Clear vegetation obstructing the line of sight.
• Assist party chief in the collection of survey data.
• Ensure survey tasks are carried out safely, effectively, and in accordance with contract documents.

Essential Skills

• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Strong willingness to learn and follow directions from the Party Chief.
• Basic mathematical calculation skills.
• Proficiency with Trimble or other survey equipment (GPS, Robotics, Total Stations, Levels, and Data Collectors).
• Experience with total station and data collection.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with AutoCAD (preferred but not required).
• Experience using robotic total stations and GPS with SHA experience (preferred but not required).
• Familiarity with software such as Totalstation, Microstation, AutoCAD, Carlson.

Work Environment

This position involves working outdoors in various weather conditions. You will report to the Party Chief / Field Coordinator and assist in carrying out survey tasks safely and effectively. During inclement weather, you will be paid for 40 hours a week and will work in the office, learning CAD and other skills. There is no mandatory overtime, but opportunities for additional work and earnings are available. The company has a stable backlog of work and offers opportunities for career growth.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $66000.00/yr.

AB has been around for 50 years and have a stable back log of work. They are an MBE firm so they win a ton of work as well. They are doing a major project with the state highway administration that is why the need is here.
