Job Description
We are seeking a mid-range Survey Technician to lead a team in our client's Surveying Department. This role involves working with various land development disciplines, including civil engineering, landscape architecture, surveying, and planning. The ideal candidate will be tech-savvy and possess excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret plans for location surveys, which show the location of a house on a lot and include all improvements such as sheds, decks, fences, and property markers.
- Perform mathematical computations to reduce data collected in the field and provide specific positions of points needed for various surveys, including traverse and stakeout computations.
- Create cut sheets and spreadsheets with compiled data.
- Utilize AutoCAD Land Development Desktop (LDD) for basic drafting and plotting tasks.
Essential Skills
- Basic experience with AutoCAD, particularly AutoCAD Land Development Desktop (LDD).
- Ability to perform boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and stakeouts.
- 3-5 years of experience in property surveying or large plot of land surveying.
- Experience working with Total Station equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Certifications or training related to surveying are a bonus.
- Experience with the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with surveying in PG and Montgomery Counties is preferred.
Work Environment
The work involves running one-man crews, requiring proficiency with technology and strong communication skills. The job entails both fieldwork and office tasks, including data collection and computation. The candidate will receive specific training on the company's system but should already be proficient in AutoCAD and surveying capabilities. The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $31.25
