Survey Crew Chief

Job Description

Located in Indianapolis- Our Client is seeking a dedicated and skilled Survey Crew Chief for a long-term opportunity. The Survey Crew Chief will engage in various types of surveys including construction layouts, as-built surveys, topographic surveys, and boundary surveys during an initial nine-month contract. Upon becoming a permanent employee, the role will also involve ALTA surveys. The Survey Crew Chief will collaborate with an instrument operator in a two-person crew or occasionally work solo.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction layouts, as-built surveys, topographic surveys, and boundary surveys.
• Conduct ALTA surveys as a permanent employee.
• Utilize Trimble equipment including GPS base and rover units, VRS networks, Robotic total stations, Digital level, TSC7 data collectors, and TBC processing software.
• Work on various projects including commercial, industrial, multifamily, and pedestrian trail projects.
• Travel locally within Central Indiana with minimal overnight stays (no more than one night per month).

Essential Skills

• 2 years of professional experience as a Survey Crew Chief.
• Experience in performing field portions of construction layout, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and ALTA surveys.
• Proficiency with total stations, GPS, and land surveying software.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Must pass a drug test, pre-employment check, and have a good driving record.

Work Environment

The Survey Crew Chief will work outdoors in the field, traveling directly from home to job sites. There is significant autonomy in this role, though occasional office visits may be required to coordinate with project managers and other team members. The typical start time is around 7:30 AM, with earlier starts possible during summer months, and work continues until the project for the day is completed. Current Crew Chiefs average 40-45 hours per week. A company vehicle, gas card, cell phone, and laptop are provided. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
