Job Title: Switchgear Technician (RELOCATION OFFERED)
Job Description
We are seeking an Engineering Technician/Switchgear Technician with a deep understanding and knowledge of NETA standards, IEEE specifications, and NEMA specifications as they pertain to low and medium voltage switchgear. The ideal candidate will have a good technical understanding and application of all types of switchgear, protective relaying, and controls of switchgear, including the operation, maintenance, and testing. Hands-on experience with low and medium voltage switchgear, including disassembly, component inspection/repair, reassembly, and testing, is essential. The ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems in both shop and field settings is crucial. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for training personnel to troubleshoot, repair, and test power distribution equipment.
Responsibilities
- Understand and apply NETA standards, IEEE specifications, and NEMA specifications to low and medium voltage switchgear.
- Perform technical tasks related to all types of switchgear, protective relaying, and controls.
- Operate, maintain, and test switchgear.
- Disassemble, inspect/repair components, reassemble, and test low and medium voltage switchgear.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems in shop and field environments.
- Train personnel in troubleshooting, repairing, and testing power distribution equipment.
Essential Skills
- NETA or NICET Level 2 or higher Electrical Power Testing Certifications.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Previous experience in the power distribution industry.
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Professional communication skills with customers and vendors.
- Ability to multitask without supervision.
- Good computer skills with basic programs such as Word and Excel.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; higher education such as vocational training, technical trade school, or a college degree is preferred
- Experience with AVO Substation Maintenance, Relay Testing, etc.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and climb/work at heights
- Significant travel to customer sites required
- Committed, self-motivated, and innovative
- Positive, can-do attitude

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
