Job Title: Systems Engineer (Connectivity & Automotive Telematics)
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to consolidate detailed technical requirements and high-level architecture specifications for next-generation connectivity solutions, including telematics communication gateways and Over-the-Air (OTA) update infrastructure for vehicle firmware, calibration, and bootloader upgrades.
- Develop high-level design specifications to serve as a foundation for detailed system and software design and verification testing. Primary stakeholders include software development and verification engineers.
- Conduct Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) at both system and software levels.
- Work closely with Development, Verification, Integration, and Service Engineers, spanning internal teams, suppliers, and partners, to ensure product excellence.
- Author Request for Proposals (RFPs), Request for Quotations (RFQs), and Statements of Work (SoWs) while evaluating suppliers.
- Maintain complete requirements and architecture traceability while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Optimize software performance through thorough design reviews.
- Collaborate with Controls, Security, Infotainment, and UX teams to achieve project objectives within scope, timeline, and budget.
- Develop balanced solutions for complex, multi-dimensional problems, considering factors such as performance (throughput, latency), power consumption, CPU and network bandwidth, complexity, extensibility, security, and safety.
- Approach challenges laterally across systems and domains, drill down into subsystems and elements, and reconcile gaps and contradictions.
- Diligently follow through on commitments and proactively resolve blockers, ensuring smooth project progression.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 6 years of proven experience as an Architect or Technical Product Manager in Connectivity & Automotive Technologies, including Unified Diagnostics Services (UDS), Diagnostics over IP (DoIP), and vehicle network architecture.
- Expertise in telematics technologies spanning Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Cellular (LTE and 5G), GNSS, and TCP/IP.
- Strong foundation in software systems design for networking and embedded systems covering the complete software development life cycle.
- Proficiency in systems software programming using C and C .
- Experience using requirement management tools such as JAMA, JIRA, Confluence, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with vehicle-to-cloud connectivity solutions, including MQTT and cloud infrastructure.
- Experience with model-based design and tools.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field with 6 years (MS) or 8 years (BS) of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with OTA servers and vehicle-side software capabilities.
- Familiarity with Linux-based system environments.
- Knowledge of communication stacks such as TLS, VPN, and cybersecurity frameworks.
- Prior experience in the automotive industry, working with OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80.00 - $95.00/hr.
