Job Title: Systems Engineer

Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for defining requirements and executing systems engineering roles in the product development process for systems. This position requires close collaboration with internal teams and customers, and involvement in both sustaining and new product development projects.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with internal teams and customers to define requirements for HVAC Wall Control systems.
• Execute the role of a systems engineer in the product development processes.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, software, validation/reliability, and manufacturing engineering teams.
• Make decisions on tradeoffs in product design between hardware and firmware/software.
• Capture requirements, write specifications, and define test plans for system verification and validation.
• Actively participate in the project planning process, including estimating tasks, resources, completion time, capital requirements, risks, and expenses.
• Lead and participate in software DFMEAs.
• Balance sustaining and new product development projects.
• Document systems and functional requirements.
• Help define the systems architecture for new products.
• Develop systems-level test cases/plans.
• Participate in risk identification and management activities.

Essential Skills

• BS/MS in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or Controls Engineering.
• 5 years of systems engineering experience with embedded products.
• Experience in the use of IBM DOORS, JIRA/Confluence, or Azure DevOps.
• Experience with requirements capture/definition.
• Experience with 8, 16, and 32-bit microcontrollers.
• Experience with various wireless protocols (WiFi, BLE, Zigbee/CHIP, etc.).
• Experience in DFMEAs.
• Ability to provide systems leadership in a cross-competency environment.
• Understanding of C and C programming languages.
• Organized with strong attention to detail, while managing multiple priorities.
• Proven ability to implement continuous improvements and standardize processes.
• Experience with digital and analog electronic products.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Controls Systems/Algorithm Design experience (a plus).
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, LabView (a plus).
• HVAC Controls System Design experience (a plus).

Work Environment

Hybrid work schedule with 4 days per week onsite. The office environment features an open layout with modern cubicles. The role involves going to the test lab and participating in the test and integration process to ensure successful delivery.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $55.00
