Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Technical Support Specialist to provide technical writing and content management support for engineering-related policies, procedures, manuals, white papers, presentations, and other documentation as required. This role involves coordinating and performing database maintenance, creating spreadsheets for data evaluation, and participating in meetings or interviews with subject matter experts to clarify documentation requirements. The position also involves coordinating documentation requests, acting as a subject matter resource, and recommending alternative processes and practices.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical writing and content management support for engineering-related documents (40%).
- Offer editing, layout, and publishing support to ensure high-quality materials are produced.
- Coordinate and perform database maintenance on the stock material catalog, compatible units, and manufacturer data catalog (20%).
- Create spreadsheets that compile large sets of data for evaluation and presentation (20%).
- Participate in meetings or interviews with subject matter experts to obtain technical understanding and clarification of documentation requirements (5%).
- Coordinate requests for documentation and evidence (5%).
- Act as a subject matter resource to all levels of the organization (5%).
- Recommend alternative processes and practices (5%).
Essential Skills
- Project management and coordination.
- Experience handling projects valued between $20 million to $30 million.
- Utility engineering practices with an emphasis on transmission and substation.
- Critical path method scheduling.
- Experience with transmission and distribution.
- Knowledge of power circuit breakers and transformers.
- Proficiency in Excel, Good Earth, mapping tools, PDF markup, and digital note-taking.
- Strong communication and active listening skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with generator interconnection.
- Knowledge of solar, electrical, and power distribution.
- Specialized knowledge of AutoCAD, Visio, and Oracle.
- Skills in project leadership, task identification, scheduling, and cost/expenditure identification.
- Interpersonal and communication skills, including consultation with internal and external customers.
- Ability to work with all levels of an organization and present alternatives and recommendations.
Work Environment
The work schedule is flexible, generally between 6 AM and 5 PM. The role is 100% onsite, primarily in an office setting with cubicles, but also includes a few days a month in the field for preliminary assessments. The position offers a three-year contract with the possibility to transition to a direct hire, two weeks of paid time off, and 10 holidays. The role involves engaging in cool projects such as renewable energy interconnection, solar plants, battery plants, and working with third parties to produce energy for the grid. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
