Job Title: Telemetry Technician
Job Description
We are seeking experienced Telemetry Technicians to join our team. You will interact directly with healthy volunteer participants while learning to read clinical research protocols in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. This is a 30-40 hour per week, office/clinic-based job in Madison, WI.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and accurately record Telemetry data.
- Monitor participant's cardiac rhythms using a centralized cardiac monitoring system.
- Analyze ECG rhythms and report any problems to licensed medical professionals.
- Escalate issues to Team Leader and Principal Investigators.
- Oversee and communicate cardiac patterns on telemetric monitoring systems.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working and study environment.
- Assist in the preparation of rooms and medical equipment.
- Build respectful relationships with study participants.
- Accurately record all research data obtained or observed.
- Assist with the training of new staff members.
- Observe study subjects for general well-being and report appropriately.
- Assist with the quality control of source documents.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- Certification as Telemetry Technician.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years of experience as a Telemetry Technician.
- Previous telemetry monitoring experience.
- 1 year of inpatient hospital experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- HS Diploma, CNA, Medical Assistant, EMT, or BS Degree in Science/Healthcare.
- 0-2 years of science, healthcare, or research background.
- Phlebotomy skills are nice to have.
Work Environment
The candidate will work in a Phase I Clinical Research Unit in Madison, WI. The telemetry station is equipped with Mortara Surveyor hardware, and the environment includes a staff office with glass windows shaped like an L, with the telemetry room in the back. The workspace includes a big desk with shelves housing the equipment, and two monitor screens displaying information for up to 14 subjects. Schedules are typically set 2-3 weeks in advance, and shifts may include 1st shift starting from 5 AM to 7 AM, 2nd shift from 2 PM to 4 PM, and overnight shifts. Candidates must be open to working on Saturdays or Sundays if required.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $27.00/hr.
