Job Title: Tooling Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Tooling Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in tooling design and production for the automotive industry. This role involves overseeing the design and build of tooling to produce custom parts, managing work orders, and ensuring adherence to APQP processes. The successful candidate will act as a liaison between engineering, die shop, quality, and production teams, assisting with troubleshooting and addressing any issues that arise during the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

• Oversee tooling design and build to produce custom parts for Automotive OEMs.
• Consistently communicate with customers to address engineering issues and keep schedules on time.
• Manage work orders, routings, ECNs, and BOMs.
• Adhere to APQP process and procedures including FEMA, flow diagram, and control plan.
• Act as a liaison between Engineering, Die Shop, Quality, and Production teams to address any issues with die assembly or part manufacturing.
• Assist tool room personnel with troubleshooting production tooling.

Essential Skills

• 7 years of Tool & Die Design experience.
• 3D Design experience; proficiency with Unigraphics NX is preferred, but experience with other CAD packages is acceptable.
• Experience in metals manufacturing, including progressive stamping, tooling, or welding.
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related experience as a die-making journeyman and tool design.
• Strongly preferred experience interacting with end customers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Tooling design expertise.
• Experience with CAD, specifically 3D CAD.
• Familiarity with metals manufacturing processes such as stamping or welding.
• Knowledge of progressive die and progressive stamping.

Work Environment

The role involves splitting time evenly between the office and production floor. Office work will primarily focus on tooling design and customer interaction. On the production floor, the engineer will address any issues with assembly or machining that require engineering changes. The typical workweek is around 40 hours, but longer hours may be necessary to meet project deadlines. Weekend work is infrequent but may be required to meet customer goals. The work environment includes a beautiful corporate building attached to the plant floor, offering growth and development opportunities and direct exposure to working with major automotive OEMs such as GM, Ford, Stellantis, and Honda.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
