Job Title: Transportation Engineer

Job Description

Perform plan development activities for a comprehensive range of transportation design projects such as horizontal and vertical geometry, cross sections, earthwork modeling, 3D roadway modeling, quantities calculations, construction specifications, and utility coordination. Utilize MicroStation/OpenRoads for geometric design and modeling on IDOT and Tollway projects. Evaluate the need for design changes and make appropriate recommendations. Coordinate with regulatory agencies, utility companies, and subconsultants to obtain information, guidance, and requirements. Oversee projects from start to finish and mentor and develop junior engineers on the team.

Responsibilities

• Utilize MicroStation/OpenRoads for geometric design and modeling on IDOT and Tollway projects.

• Mentor and develop junior engineers on the team.

Essential Skills

• Proficient in Bentley MicroStation and OpenRoads.
• BS in Civil Engineering.
• At least four years of transportation/roadway engineering experience related to IDOT or Tollway.
• Must have an IL PE or be a year away from obtaining it.
• Strong communication and organization skills.
• Ability to work with clients and manage projects from start to finish.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Must be willing to train and develop junior staff.

Work Environment

This position is open as the company remains busy, continues to win work, and has a strong backlog. The company operates on a hybrid schedule, with in-office work 2 days a week and remote work 3 days a week. Employees will receive a company computer. The company has about 15 employees, including 2 survey crews, 1 PLS/Survey Manager, 5 PEs in the roadway/drainage team, 2 junior engineers, and 3 REs/Inspectors. This individual will have the opportunity to continue their professional development, grow a team, and work directly with clients on a variety of project sizes, including projects from various IDOT districts ranging from $2-3 million each.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $115000.00

You will be eligible for 120 hours of Paid Time Off (PTO) annually; accumulation begins on the first day of employment. In all other respects, your PTO benefits will be subject to Company policy. Safe Habor 401(k)-retirement plan subject to the terms of the applicable plan. All eligible employees receive a
contribution equivalent to 3% of their annual salary, whether they choose to participate or not.
