Pay Rate: Up to $120,000 per year
Job Summary:
The Design and Construction Facility Engineer is responsible for supporting the Project Manager on assigned technical, architectural, or engineering related projects.
The majority of projects are related to office buildouts and upgrading building mechanical operations.
This position will assist in the management of on-site personnel, budgeting, risk-assessment, and scheduling, in order to deliver successful project outcomes. The successful candidate must be a flexible and adaptable team player with strong organizational and communication skills.
Essential Job Functions:
- Manage various major and/or minor project and alteration services.
- The projects could be as simple as workspace alterations or creating bid specifications for one-time deferred maintenance issues for roofs, asphalt, concrete repair, plumbing, electrical and HVAC or as complex as full oversight and management of commissioning, architectural and engineering design services, and implementation for complex construction projects.
- Site inspections
- Participation in cross functional team meeting
- Performing prebuilding assessments, quality control, implementation of changes to CAD plans, and planning of maintenance activities as they relate to projects.
- Make suggestions to Project Manager for how improvements in Facilities Processes can enhance Facilities team performance.
- Gather and Analyze data, blueprints, and reports.
- Determine facility and equipment specifications.
- Analyze project costs and prepare budgets.
- Liaise with contractors, suppliers and internal company stakeholders
- Report on project progress to Project Manager and clients
- Design and oversee the implementation of facility expansion, layout, various systems, and quality controls.
- Evaluate operational systems and facility infrastructure to ascertain and improve operational efficiencies.
- Develop process plans and optimize resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards. Prepare compliance documentation.
- Ensure that all aspects of the project proceed while adhering to internal company SOPs as well as external regulations and laws – this includes maintenance of project documentation
- Work independently when required.
- Position may require occasional travel to different sites, some which may be outside of the city.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Engineering Design or Construction
- Must be proficient in reviewing and commenting on Design Intent Drawings, As Built Drawings, and some cost estimating experience.
- Experience with AutoCAD, SAP, and MS Office.
- Knowledge of the building process and construction principles.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and building codes.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Project management skills.
- Once a candidate has accpeted an offer letter and begun the onboarding process, they will go through a federal background check that is necessary in order to get clearance to access the site.
Educational Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering: Mechanical, Civil, Environmental, Industrial Engineering or related engineering disciplines, preferred but not required.
