We are seeking a skilled Screed Operator to join our paving crew. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating the screed on an asphalt paver, ensuring a smooth, level, and high-quality finish for roads, highways, and other asphalt surfaces. The Screed Operator must have experience in asphalt paving, a strong understanding of screed functions, and small engine repair and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and control the screed on an asphalt paver to ensure an even and smooth asphalt surface.
- Adjust screed settings, including thickness, width, and temperature, to meet project specifications.
- Monitor the flow and distribution of asphalt, ensuring proper compaction and leveling.
- Work closely with the paver operator, roller operators, and ground crew to ensure seamless paving operations.
- Perform routine maintenance on the screed, including minor repairs and troubleshooting.
- Follow all safety guidelines and OSHA regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
- Inspect completed work for quality assurance and make necessary adjustments as needed.
- Communicate with the paving team to coordinate speed, depth, and asphalt application.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as a Screed Operator or in asphalt paving, also experience with small engine repair
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of asphalt paving techniques and screed operation.
- Skills: Ability to read and interpret project plans, use leveling instruments, and adjust screed settings.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 100 lbs in various weather conditions.
- Safety Awareness: Knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry safety practices.
- Teamwork: Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
