It is important for interested individuals to know that being a RV technician is a great career for ANYONE! The only limitations will be your desire to learn, natural skill sets and your ability to apply yourself. Being an RV technician is all about problem solving and will involve; plumbing, electrical (both 12 volt DC and 120 volt AC), propane, carpentry, welding, body work, sheet metal work, accessory installation, electronics, mechanical repairs and RV roofing. If you are a person who’s hobbies or previous employment include working with your hands, being a mechanic or crafting, then working on RV’s might be a perfect fit for you!

RV Technician fundamental tasks that will be expected to be performed after 90 day training period;
Level 1 Technician Tasks
1) Awning fabric replacement
2) Roof AC theory, diagnosis and replacement
3) Roof vent replacement
4) Dump valve replacement
5) Toilet replacement
6) Toilet ball valve replacement
7) Water pump replacement
8) Winterize and de-winterize
9) Trailer axle annual service
10) Trailer axle brake backing plate replacement
11) Battery condition test and replacement
12) Converter charge test, operation test and replacement
13) Trailer pre delivery inspection
14) Motorized pre delivery inspection
15) Horse trailer pre delivery inspection
16) D.O.T. safety inspection
17) Correct Track alignment inspection
18) Camber and toe inspection on trailer axle
19) Slide room maintenance
20) 7 way trailer plug replacement
21) 7 way tow vehicle plug replacement
22) Brake control installation (pre-wired)
23) 7 way vehicle wiring package (hard wired brakes & charge)
24) Turn over GN truck hitch installation
25) Fridge theory, diagnosis and replacement
26) Propane pressure test and leak down test
27) Trailer tire dismount, mount and balance
28) Roof peel and seal
29) Fresh water system theory, diagnosis, and repair
30) Furnace theory, diagnosis, and repair
31) Water heater theory, diagnosis, and repair
Basic Duties of Service Technician;
1. Perform tasks as requested by Service Writer, Shop Leader, or another authorized supervisor.
2. Always perform tasks with highest level of quality and professionalism. Adhere to service technician handbook quality guidelines.
3. Complete all assigned tasks within time allowed. Meet or exceed promised deadlines.
4. Maintain open communication with Service Writer, Shop Leader.
5. Maintain accurate clock in and out times with accurate description of repair on all work orders.
6. Maintain accurate parts use on all work orders.
7. Always keep individual smart tablets either at tool box or at service counter, do not lock in your tool box!
8. Return all unused parts to parts department for restocking; do not keep extra parts or supplies in your tool box!
9. Notify Parts Leader of low parts, shop supplies or material quantities immediately.
10.Always notify Service Writer and Shop Leader when leaving for lunch, so that we are adequately staffed.
11.Continuously strive to improve performance and knowledge.
12.Keep work areas including bench clean, organized, and safe at all times.
13.Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of shop, tools, and equipment. The shop is to be completely swept, all cords and hoses rolled up and the shop restroom every Friday at 4:00 before the work week is complete. Every shop team member is expected to share in the cleaning equally.
14.Inform supervisor of any safety related problems.
15.Assist other techs only when help is needed or requested.
