At Action Traffic Maintenance, the role of the Diesel Technician is an essential element in maintaining the efficiencies and productivity of the projects within the organization. We look to our mechanics to keep our fleet working effectively on the road. We look to our mechanics to know how to repair and perform routine maintenance on all fleet vehicles, including, but not limited to, cars, trucks, and other motor vehicles. Essential Job Functions :

- Identifies mechanical problems, either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment.
- Performs tests on specific parts and systems to confirm proper mechanical function; ensures that all critical parts are examined.
- Performs routine and preventive maintenance, including oil changes and tune-ups.
- Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems, such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts.
- Inspect completed work to ensure proper functioning.
- Inspect mechanical components of vehicles to identify problems.
- Inspect mechanical equipment to locate damage, defects, or wear.
- Lubricate equipment to allow proper functioning.
- Maintain inventories of materials, equipment, or products.
- Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
- Maintain repair or maintenance records.
- Clean equipment, parts, or tools to repair or maintain them properly.
- Dismantle heavy equipment or machinery.
- Schedule repair, installation, or maintenance activities.
- Performs further tests, including driving the vehicle, to ensure repairs are completed correctly.

- Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
- Schedule maintenance for industrial machines and equipment and keep equipment service records.
- Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

The employee must lift or push / pull objects of up to 50 lbs. without assistance regularly and up to 100 lbs. occasionally. While performing the duties of this job, the employee works near moving mechanical equipment and is exposed to weather conditions & uneven terrain as well as is exposed to fumes or airborne particles and noxious odors. The noise level in the work environment is usually high / loud.
