A global trading company is currently seeking a Customs Broker to support their office in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago area. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’ work experience as a Customs Broker and in logistics field, and a positive, team-oriented mindset. This is a full-time, direct hire position.
Licensed Customs Broker Responsibilities Include:
- Prepare and process import/export documents and other forms on behalf of clients according to customs regulations, laws and procedures.
- Arrange for payment of duties, taxes, storage and transportation of imported goods and bonds to cover duty goods.
- Provide advice/solution to clients on export/import restrictions, such as tariff systems, letters of credit, insurance requirements and other custom related matters.
- Quote duty and tax rates on commodities for clients.
- Clear goods through customs and to their destinations for clients.
- Other duties as assigned
Licensed Customs Broker Requirements Include:
- Associate’s degree in an International Trade -related field preferred
- Strong knowledge on customs laws, regulations, procedures, etc.
- At least 5 years' work experience in Logistics as Custom Broker
- Strong computer skills and experience in Microsoft Office applications
- Strong record keeping skills
- Good communication and collaboration ability in a multicultural environment
- Strong problem-solving and time management skills
While performing the duties of this job you may be required to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, lift in excess of 25 pounds with a lift assist, climb stairs, use hands to handle or feel parts/equipment, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk and hear. You may also be required to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
