An automotive parts manufacturer in Pendleton, IN is searching for a Heat Treatment Engineer to lead development of induction heat treatment manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have a background in metallurgy or materials engineering with hands-on experience in an industrial manufacturing position.
Responsibilities will include developing and fine-tuning metal tempering processes, testing induction heating equipment, documenting heating procedures with tooling and coiling requirements, and some general production planning with attention to maximizing safety and efficiency.
This is a full-time, direct-hire position with excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401K and paid vacation.
Engineer Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement engineering processes related to heating and tempering metal, including testing recipes and equipment for points of failure
- Create high-quality process documentation
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with induction heating equipment and coil design
- Change programs to accommodate customer requirements
- Act as Technical Lead to Engineering Technicians
- Communicate production requirements, including time, staffing, space, and cost estimation
- Interact with vendors to determine appropriate specifications and purchase equipment
- Complete initial start-up installation of equipment, including traveling for machine validation
- Work within tight tolerances
- Other duties as assigned by management

While performing the duties of this job you may be required to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, lift in excess of 25 pounds with a lift assist, climb stairs, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk and hear. You may also be required to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
