Job Overview
The Activities Director plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for members at our Club. This position is responsible for planning , organizing, and implementing the fun and heartbeat of our club! The Director will work with our team to lead and execute engaging activities and programs that promote social interaction, physical wellness, and cognitive stimulation among our members . The ideal candidate will have a passion and love for working with seniors and our amazing team!
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Activity Planning and Execution: Plan, organize, and lead a variety of activities and programs for members, including games, arts and crafts, music and dance sessions, exercise classes, and live entertainment.
- Therapeutic Techniques: Incorporate therapeutic and cognitive stimulation techniques into activities to benefit members with Alzheimer's and dementia.
- Inclusive Environment: Create an inclusive and welcoming environment where members feel valued and engaged.
- Socialization Encouragement: Encourage socialization and interaction among members to foster a sense of community and belonging.
- Coordination with Staff: Work closely with other staff members to coordinate activities and ensure the smooth operation of daily programs.
- Effective Communication: Communicate effectively with members, families, and caregivers to understand their needs and preferences.
- Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate records of attendance, participation, and feedback on activities.
- Professional Development: Keep up-to-date with best practices and trends in Alzheimer's and dementia care, as well as recreational therapy.
- Safety and Cleanliness: Ensure a safe and clean environment during activities, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a social or health service field or an Associate's degree in a related field plus 2 years of experience. (All services provided by program aides must be provided under the direct supervision of the activity director or recreation therapist.)
- Experience: Experience working with older adults, particularly those with Alzheimer's and dementia.
- Certification & Compliance:
o Level II Background Check
o Annual Free from TB & Communicable Disease Statement
o CPR and First Aid Certificate
