The Digital Media Strategist’s job is to lead the social media strategy and enhance the online presence of the Garden Group across all platforms. This individual is skilled in content creation, analytics, and community engagement, and will be responsible for crafting engaging posts, developing campaigns, and growing followers while promoting brand awareness (for each of the three gardening titles) and fostering positive engagement. They are highly organized individual, capable of multitasking, and working within a deadline. This person will have experience working in the Adobe Creative Suite and various project management and scheduling tools such as Sprout Social, Later.com, etc. The Digital Media Strategist reports to and collaborates with the Executive Digital Editor. They are deeply involved with ensuring brand continuity and consistency across social platforms, doing so by collaboration with the Digital Content Editor and members of the print Garden Group team. The Digital Media Strategist must be aware and supportive of the brand’s business objectives and be adaptable to changing business needs and content distribution methods as technology evolves. The measure of success for this position is growth in followers, direct engagements, and maintaining reasonable quotas for content posting velocity.

Requirements
- Develop a comprehensive social marketing and audience engagement strategy for each brand in collaboration with the editorial director and digital stakeholders.
- Build a social marketing calendar for each brand to drive moments of conversion, email acquisition, event, and product sales.
- Manage social media channels from ideation to execution, including designing and writing posts, and deploying content and creative across channels in a manner consistent with the mission and values of each gardening title.
- Create a strategic brand presence, balancing time investment and return, across primary social channels to build awareness of our brands online. This includes a focus on FB, IG, TikTok, YT, Pinterest and LinkedIn with consideration of Threads for additional reach.
- Liaise with other departments and with outside individuals/organizations to help secure social marketing partnerships and other promotional opportunities (ie. development of influencers).
- Monitor brand forums and social networks around events to increase engagement, respond to audience comments, and share assets and info with viewers.
- Create plans to test and track results across individual platforms to help position focus and resource investment.
- Responsible for setting goals for digital initiatives and pulling data analysis to ensure that we reflect, maximize learning, and increase impact across the social ecosystem.
- Serve as subject matter expert for social marketing and communicate most current and effective best practices with brand and central service teams.
- Employ basic video editing skills to create relevant content for cross channel publishing
