What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator position at ActiveSoft, Inc?
What we are looking for:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Estimator who will help prepare and/or coordinate complete estimates of medium to large size and complexity. This position provides complete conceptual and final estimating input on complex Construction Management and Design-Build work or complete total bid price for General Contracting work. Ideally we are looking for someone with industrial experience!
Candidate Qualifications:
- B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or commensurate work experience is preferred
- 5-10 years of experience in commercial construction (Industrial experience highly preferred)
- Familiar with Sage Estimating or equal software knowledge
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite and Microsoft Office
- Familiar with Planswift Software or similar software
Position Summary:
- Reads and understands plans and specifications for a variety of projects.
- Provides accurate quantity take-off of materials necessary to construct the project as presented in plans and/or specifications.
- Provides analysis of labor and equipment necessary to perform portions of the work by forces and conveys this information to management for go/no-go decisions.
- Provides accurate analysis of the project scope in order to convey this information to the assigned pursuit team to ascertain bid strategy and pricing.
- Accurately identifies the types of subcontractors necessary to complete any given project with the understanding of the work scope and location of the project.
- Obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials, identifying qualified subcontractors, and negotiating pricing.
- Evaluates, coordinates, collaborates with suppliers and/or subcontractors pricing to ensure they have included a complete scope of work.
- Actively works with the business development team to design successful bid strategies.
