Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Referral Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing patient referrals, ensuring that all necessary documentation is processed efficiently while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Duties

• Manage and coordinate patient referrals to specialists and other healthcare providers.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for patients, ensuring all necessary authorizations are obtained.
• Maintain accurate medical records, including ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding for referrals.
• Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to facilitate the referral process.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient information confidentiality.
• Assist in the management of managed care contracts and relationships with referral sources.
• Provide support in the medical office environment, including answering inquiries related to referrals and appointments.
• Collaborate with dental offices as needed for cross-referrals or patient care coordination.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in medical terminology is essential.
• Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred.
• Familiarity with ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of managed care processes and insurance verification practices.
• Experience handling medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
