ActUp Theater is a Sound Technician to play a central role in and support the work of ActUp Theater’s 2025 production, Once on this Island. The Sound Technician will be responsible for the setup, maintenance, and teardown of all audio equipment, including microphones, speakers, cables, sound and mixing boards, etc. Key duties include collaborating closely with the Director and Set Designer to ensure seamless integration of sound elements, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, and ensuring optimal performance of all media systems throughout the production.
Responsibilities
- 1-2 years of Sound Technician experience
- Strong portfolio of previous work
- Good knowledge of audio principles and techniques
- Detailed knowledge of theater production engineering principles
- The ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and collaboration skills
- Ability to brief crew and actors on proper sound procedures and also explain how the equipment operates
- Ability to work independently and take initiative to execute exemplary sound quality for the production
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize a demanding schedule and a diverse portfolio of responsibilities
- Ability to coordinate with the set designer and director for optimal viewing and sound needs
- Ability to delegate tasks, develop time schedules, and order required materials for overall set engineering
- Excellent analytical, organization, problem solving, and communication skills, both orally and in writing
- Strong interpersonal skills as well as a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively with students, faculty members, parents, and administrators
- Sensitivity to the needs and concerns of participants from diverse backgrounds
