SUMMARY :
Under minimum supervision, the Field Technical Manager will lead technical product development and production launch activities for our portfolio of automotive LCD and Touch Panels. Professional technical engineering knowledge is required to make design decisions and recommendations involving fundamental engineering principles. This is a high customer-facing role that requires strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, high energy, and the ability to develop strong customer relations. In addition, one key responsibility will be to communicate on a daily basis with the core design team in Japan. Effective time and task management capability is highly desired.
Job Description / Requirements :
- Work with OEM / Tier1 customers to develop and win new automotive displays as a mechanical engineer.
- Responsible for driving customer requirements related to display mechanical specifications covering the whole phase (from RFQ to SOP) including display design specifications, test plans, design analysis, and integration compatibility with OEM systems.
- Ability to support sales team discussions with the customer to provide background on quotes and processes for design changes and new RFQs.
- Work / Communicate closely with Sharp Japan engineering team to define mechanical display specifications, and incorporate into 3D / 2D CAD.
- Follow customer product development milestones as well as internal program management process for successful mechanical milestone deliveries (AAR, CAE, Drawing releases, Tooling Kick off, etc).
- Analyze test plans, design feasibility, supplier DFMs, and CAE reports if needed.
- Local engineering support for customer testing / mechanical failures during the development stage.
- Working with customer online systems for submitting 3D data, 2D drawings.
- Work with cross-functional team to launch the product successfully from RFQ to mass production.
