Controller

Primary Functions:

- Leads and directs Acucote’ s accounting staff as well as accounts payable, accounts receivable and invoicing functions. Establishes and maintains the organization's overall accounting systems, procedures, and policies. Responsible for analysis and generation of financial statements, required filings / reports and ensuring an effective control environment.

- Responsible for management of internal controls, annual financial audit and other interim audits as scheduled.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Responsible for managing all finance and accounting tasks including, but not limited to month-end / quarter-end / year-end closing process, financial statement preparation, preparation and review of all journal entries, management of all internal reports, analysis of costs impacting margins and review of monthly account reconciliations.

- Analyze standard costs, making recommendations on changes, ensuring cost rolls are processed accurately and in line with best practices.

- Ensure integrity and accuracy of all entries impacting the financial statements.

- Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results.

- Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements including account reconciliations.

- Manage cash flow including analysis and recommending opportunities for improvement.

- Coordinate and manage activities of external auditors.

- Assess, develop, document, and maintain accounting business processes. Identify opportunities for improvement and implement as needed.

- Safeguard company assets through evaluating and improving accounting and internal control systems and processes as needed.

- Oversee and manage regulatory reporting, including tax planning and compliance. Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements, including tax filings, W9’s and exempt certificates.

- Assist with the preparation of budget and financial forecasts and reporting of variances as needed.

- Provide leadership and performance oversight of the financial team in the completion of all daily, weekly, and monthly responsibilities.

Secondary Responsibilities:

- Motivate, coach and develop direct reports, creating a continuous learning environment.

- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and effectiveness of financial records and internal controls, including adherence to company accounting policies.

- Participate in the annual commission review process for the sales division; compile compensation plans and adjust system calculations to accurately generate monthly compensation to the sales team.

- Manage the Company’s expense reimbursement process through management and analysis of the Concur system. Monitor transactions as compared to acceptable budget and policy standards.

Position Requirements:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience, CPA preferred, public accounting / auditing experience a plus

- 10 years of experience in a senior accounting or financial management role, including robust management experience required.

- Advanced knowledge of cost accounting and standard costing in a manufacturing environment.

- Advanced knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), practices and methods of accounting, finance and auditing, and financial reporting

- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.

- Experience working with a mid-tier integrated ERP system, experience in back-end functionality preferred.

- Proven ability to develop and implement process improvements.

- Demonstrated initiative, self-motivation, and sound judgment in analyzing and resolving issues.
