Acumen LLC has multiple positions available for the position of Data and Policy Analyst in Burlingame, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA.
Prepare descriptive statistics for public and health care policy in draft form. With support from more senior employees, coordinate project activities and communications among diverse groups of internal and external clients and team members. Draft interpretations of study specifications, research findings, and quantitative analyses for relevant audiences. Develop research files from large confidential datasets, such as health care claims, patient assessment data, enrollment data, and payment data. Prepare project reports, memos, presentations, and proposals. Assist with delivering technical assistance and presenting findings to clients. Assist more senior employees in research planning and coordinating tasks. Assist in facilitating employee development and implementation of plans for completing work. Assist more senior employees in advocating on behalf of the individuals those employees manage. Train junior employees on fundamental skills, concepts, and competencies.

\n- Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Public Policy, Public Health, Economics, Statistics, Informatics, or related field. 2 years of experience in job offered or related occupation.
- Designing and producing econometric and statistical analyses of data using statistical software (SAS and STATA) and statistical models.
- Analyzing health insurance markets and understanding health insurance benefit design.
- Designing and drafting interpretations of study specifications, research findings, and quantitative analyses for relevant audiences.
- Constructing and validating public-facing research files, and assisting with developing research files from large confidential datasets, including health care claims, enrollment data and payment data.
- Conducting literature searches and other independent research and drafting summaries of findings, and proposing logical next steps.
- Identifying, developing, and implementing best practices for conducting research, interpreting findings, and ensuring deliverables pass QA standard.
- Using research datasets to analyze the Medicare population, including fee-for-service claims, enrollment, provider, and assessment data.
- Teaching and assisting with the development of research training programs in areas of data, policy, writing, and programming.
This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position in our Burlingame, CA Headquarters (500 Airport Blvd, Burlingame, CA 94010 and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA).
